Debt

Debt eating you alive? Learn how you can ditch your debt here.

Debt

To effectively manage your debt, you need to stay right on top of your spending. But sometimes, life can get in the way of that. The next thing you know, your spending is out of control (whether you know it or not) and then you find yourself in debt. But there are ways to regain control and improve your overall credit score.

On Your Own

If you're trying to manage your debt on your own, there are things you can do, such as writing down everything you spend for a month. Then you can see where maybe you spent money you shouldn't have, how much you spend on food, gas, groceries and other necessities each month and more. From that, you can develop a budget--making the necessary cuts along the way, giving yourself the gift of debt help.

If the primary source of your debt problems is credit card debt, try transferring all your credit card balances to a credit card with a 0% introductory rate that has no annual fee and no balance transfer fees. Then try to pay off the entire balance during the introductory period. Of course, if you can't, you may have to transfer the remaining balance to another card with a 0% introductory rate and continue this cycle until the entire amount is paid off in full. Its a long, strenuous method of debt settlement, but it is possible, so if money is indeed the bottom line you should consider these free options once and for all.

With Professional Help

There are a lot of reasons the above method might not work for you. But all hope is not lost. You can still get hope from a professional debt management program. Most debt management programs can have you out of debt in five years and save you thousands of dollars in interest in the process. When you consider that it would take you 13 years or more to get out of debt on your own, that's an excellent option. If you choose to go this route, expect to hear about the following programs:

All of these programs have different requirements, but your debt management specialist will help you determine which one is right for you. Enroll in one and start controlling your debt instead of letting it control you.
